Background & Aim: High-risk behaviors in any society are considered to be one of the major threats to the health system. Adolescents are more at risk than other age groups. They are more prone to this type of behavior. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of smoking, alcohol and drug use among adolescent students in Guilan province.
Materials & Methods: This research was conducted by contextualization method. The statistical population of the present study included 182637 high school students of Guilan province in the academic year 2020-2021, of which 384 were selected as a sample by multi-stage cluster sampling method. Zadeh Mohammadi and Ahmadabadi (2008) risk scale was used to collect the required data. To analyze the data at the descriptive level, frequency statistical methods, graphs and at the inferential level, non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Euman-Whitney tests were used. All statistical operations were analyzed by SPSS16 software. Significance level was considered 0.05 for all tests.
Results: The results showed high risk behaviors; Smoking, drug use and alcohol were the most common among adolescent students, respectively. The results also showed that the prevalence of high-risk behaviors among adolescent students was not significantly different based on age and gender (P>0.01).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the prevalence of smoking, alcohol and drugs among adolescent students has caused concerns in the field of social health and to solve this problem should be he used all the capacities available in the society.
