Background & Aim: Many people who undergo surgery will experience a degree of anxiety and pain, and the vital signs of people will fluctuate due to anxiety due to their surgery, which may disorder the patient's recovery process. This study was carried out with the aim of determine the effect of white noise on anxiety, pain and hemodynamic indices in patient's candidates for open heart surgery.
Materials & Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study and was performed in Kashani Hospital in Shahrekord in 2018-2019. In those 44 patients who were hospitalized in intensive heart care, with a simple random procedure was selected and divided into two groups that consisted of 22 control group and 22 test group. Data were collected based on patient profile checklist, Spielberger Anxiety Inventory with a numerical scale of 20 to 80 and pain assessment checklist, sphygmomanometer, thermometer, standard cardiac pulse oximetry. Data were analyzed using SPSS 18 software and one-way chi-square covariance and Fisher's exact test.
Results: blood pressure, pulse and pain in the intervention group were significantly less than control groups. Also, the differences observed were not statistically significant, even though the volume of oxygen was greater after intervention in the intervention group than the control group. The average number of anxiety scores of patients after intervention decreased significantly.
Conclusion: White noise can reduce anxiety, blood pressure and pain in patients, which can be used as a simple and inexpensive supplement to care for patients.
