زمینه و هدف: ارزیابی پیشرفت زایمان، یکی از مراقبت‌های اولیه وکلیدی حین زایمان است. دلیل اصلی این ارزیابی‌ها، شناسایی و پیش بینی مشکلاتی همانند پیشرفت غیرطبیعی لیبر است تا با مداخله به‌موقع بهبود وضعیت سلامت مادر و جنین تأمین شود. لذا این مطالعه باهدف تاثیر مصرف شربت زعفران عسل بر طول مدت زایمان زنان نخست زا انجام شد.
مواد و روش ها: این مطالعه کارآزمایی بالینی یک سو کور در سال 1398 بر روی 126 زن نخست زای مراجعه‌کننده بیمارستان بعثت شهر سنندج انجام شد. شرکت‌کننده‌ها به‌ روش در دسترس انتخاب و سپس با تخصیص تصادفی با استفاده از پاکت های دربسته به گروه شربت زعفران عسل (63 نفر) و گروه کنترل (63 نفر) تقسیم شدند. هرکدام از شرکت‌کنندگان حداکثر 150سی سی شربت زعفران عسل یا شربت دارونما را دریافت می کردند. ارائه مایعات فوق در بدو ورود به مطالعه (دیلاتاسیون 4 سانتی‌متر) و سپس هر 60-30 دقیقه یک‌بار تا پایان فاز فعال مرحله اول زایمان براساس تمایل بیمار تمدید شد. تجزیه‌وتحلیل داده ها با استفاده از آزمون-های کای اسکوئر و تی تست و با نرم‌افزار SPSS (نسخه 24) انجام گرفت. میزان P کمتر از 0/05 معنی دار در نظر گرفته شد.
 یافته‌ها: نتایج مطالعه نشان داد که میانگین طول مدت فاز فعال مرحله اول، دوم و سوم زایمان بعد از مداخله درگروه مداخله شربت زعفران عسل (48/29±176/83، 13/85±35/92و 7/26±13/55) نسبت به گروه کنترل (73/95±289/42، 29/35±74/92 و 8/7±18/92) کوتاه تر بود (p=0/001).
نتیجه‌گیری: مصرف شربت زعفران عسل در کاهش طول فاز فعال مرحله اول زایمان، مرحله دوم و سوم زایمان تاثیر دارد.
