Background & Aim: Breast cancer is the most important and common disease among women, which has the second highest mortality rate after lung cancer, so this study aims to investigate the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on the resilience of women with breast cancer.
Materials and methods: The research method was practical and semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group. 30 women with breast cancer in Kermanshah city, who were selected as available and then randomly divided into two cognitive-behavioral treatment groups (15 people) and the control group (15 people) were allocated. The data collection tool included Conor and Davidson's resilience questionnaire (2000). Cognitive-behavioral therapy was performed face-to-face during 10 sessions in the test group. The data were analyzed using t-tests using multivariate analysis of covariance and using SPSS version 24 software.
Results: The results showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy had a significant effect on the resilience of women with breast cancer and there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate the usefulness of cognitive-behavioral therapy in increasing the resilience of women with breast cancer; therefore, it is recommended to use this treatment approach to increase the resilience of these patients.
